Civic Foundation provides funding to advance leaders in NC law enforcement

July 21, 2025

Civic Foundation has awarded more than $16,000 in scholarships to six North Carolina local government law enforcement officials attending the Administrative Officers Management Program (AOMP) through the NC State University Public Safety Leadership Initiative (PSLI).

AOMP is operated as part of a nationally accredited public administration program, an uncommon distinction among residential police management schools. On July 24, these scholarship recipients will graduate as part of the program’s 102nd class.

"The Foundation’s investment in the advancement of law enforcement leaders reflects our unwavering commitment to the values of service, integrity, and community,” said Civic Foundation Executive Director, Jazmine Kilpatrick. “It is both an honor and a privilege to award scholarships to credit union members who are championing community policing initiatives across North Carolina. These individuals embody what it means to protect and serve — not only through enforcement, but through empathy, trust-building, and leadership. We are proud to support their continued growth and witness how this educational opportunity strengthens their impact and deepens their connection to the communities they serve."

For more than a decade, Civic Foundation and Civic Credit Union have awarded scholarships to law enforcement professionals who might not otherwise have the means to participate.

“Our partnership with the Civic Foundation has helped us to realize our purpose,” said Jim Brunet, Associate Professor and Director of PSLI. “With the Foundation’s generous support, we have expanded our reach to all parts of the state.”

Civic Foundation is the philanthropic giving arm of Civic Credit Union. To be eligible for this scholarship program, applicants must be a member of Civic Credit Union and work in North Carolina law enforcement.
